Dāna
Dāna is a Pali word (the language that was spoken at the time of the Buddha) that means “generosity” or “giving freely,” and is a central practice of Buddhism that can be expressed in both material or immaterial ways.
Vashon Insight operates without any financial obligation from participants, and offers the teachings of Buddhism freely. Sangha members have the opportunity to support both the Vashon Insight Sangha and Keri Pederson through Dāna if they so choose.
There is no obligation to offer Dāna and the teachings are welcome to everyone regardless of payment.
Dāna Opportunities
Keri Pederson
In 2019, Vashon Insight was fortunate to welcome dharma teacher and Vashon resident, Keri Pederson, as a regular dharma instructor. Keri joins our group every other Tuesday to guide practice and offer teachings on the dharma. In addition, she also offers half-day and day-long retreats on the Island supported by Vashon Insight. You can learn more about Keri here.
Note: When donating, please select the ‘send to a friend’ option rather than ‘goods and services’ when possible on PayPal to minimize fees.
The Vashon Insight Sangha
Vashon Insight is fortunate to have very little overhead as we rent the space from the Puget Sound Zen Center. In addition to our monthly rent, we also host occasional retreats. If you would like to practice Dāna with the sangha, you can do so here:

Other Dāna Opportunities
You can also practice Dāna with Vashon Insight by helping to move cushions and chairs before or after a session, or helping the tech team with the Zoom broadcast. If you are interested in these kinds of opportunities, you can inquire any Tuesday evening.
